YahooFeedSeeker/2.0 this came up in my logs
I did a little research and found that it is a good thing that we get spidered by YahooFeedSeeker/2.0.
I noticed when I was researching that others were questioning this as well.
The name really gives this away it is a feed seeker. Here is a brief explaination of what it does.
Yahoo! currently tracks and reports the number of active subscribers and the total number of pageviews for those subscribers for each of your feeds. This information can be found in your logfiles, under the user agent “YahooFeedSeeker.”
Here is an example of access log information:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - [07/Dec/2007:02:44:50 -0700]
“GET /blog/rss2.xml HTTP/1.0″ 304 - “-”
“YahooFeedSeeker/2.0 (compatible; Mozilla 4.0;
MSIE 5.5; http://my.yahoo.com/s/publishers.html;
users 346; views 79494)”
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx = changed IP address
Here is a link that will hopefully answer some the what is this all about question YahooFeedSeeker/2.0.

If we are looking to get recognized and indexed this is a good thing. However we must also be aware that it does use your bandwidth not much at all but if your are hosting a private blog of forum you really don’t need YahooFeedSeeker/2.0. visiting or crawling your site.
If don’t want YahooFeedSeeker/2.0. to visit an crawl there are ways to prevent this. You can look into this more in depth and eliminate this. I don’t believe that you can eliminate the visit entirely you will be able to direct it to not crawl your site. You can also direct it to not visit as often. Well worth looking into if this is the case for you.
Most of want our sites to be crawled and indexed so the trade off is well worth it.
Web Traffic Club great resources for you web site traffic
